CNC processing equipment has a high purchase cost, but it has advantages in manpower, efficiency and quality, and is suitable for large-scale and high-precision production. Traditional machining is low-cost and suitable for small-batch production of simple parts. Enterprises should make comprehensive considerations and make the best choice.

In the manufacturing industry, the choice of processing methods has always been the focus of enterprises. CNC machining occupies an important position in modern industrial production with its advantages such as high precision and high efficiency, but CNC machining equipment is often expensive. Traditional machining seems to be more attractive in terms of cost, so is low-cost machining really the way to go?

It is undeniable that the purchase cost of CNC machining equipment is relatively high. An ordinary CNC lathe processing equipment may cost hundreds of thousands of yuan, and the price of a CNC machining center with turning and milling compound functions is even more expensive. For some small companies, buying such equipment may bring great financial pressure. In contrast, the price of traditional machining equipment is relatively low, and some simple manual machine tools only cost tens of thousands of yuan or even less, which makes many companies prefer traditional machining in the early stage.

However, cost considerations cannot be limited to the purchase of equipment. From the perspective of labor costs, traditional machining relies on manual operation, requires a large number of skilled workers, and it takes a long time to train a skilled machining worker, and the labor cost is high. Although CNC machining requires a large initial equipment investment, it has a low degree of dependence on labor during the processing process. For example, when performing CNC milling, the operator only needs to set up the program before processing, and the equipment can run automatically during the processing, which greatly reduces the need for manpower.

In terms of processing efficiency, CNC processing has obvious advantages. Taking turning and milling composite processing as an example, it can complete multiple processing procedures in one clamping, such as turning, milling, drilling, etc., avoiding the errors caused by multiple clamping, and also saving processing time. For some precision processing needs, CNC processing can meet higher precision requirements and ensure product quality. However, traditional machining is less efficient when processing complex parts, and it is difficult to ensure high precision.

In addition, from the perspective of long-term production and large-scale production, the advantages of CNC processing are more obvious. Although the initial investment of the equipment is large, due to its high efficiency and high precision, it can reduce the scrap rate and improve product quality, thereby reducing the total cost in long-term production. Moreover, with the continuous advancement of technology, the performance of CNC processing equipment continues to improve, and the price is gradually becoming reasonable.

Of course, traditional machining also has its value in certain specific situations. For small-batch production of some simple parts, the flexibility and low-cost advantages of traditional machining can be fully utilized. Enterprises can comprehensively consider and choose the appropriate processing method based on their own production needs, product characteristics, and financial conditions.

We cannot simply assume that low-cost machining is the way to go. Although CNC machining equipment is expensive, it has many advantages in terms of labor costs, processing efficiency, and product quality. For products with large-scale production and high-precision requirements, CNC machining is often a better choice. When choosing a processing method, enterprises should comprehensively weigh various factors to optimize production costs and maximize corporate benefits.
